Premier league week 18 snow-blow, European Christmas Break

Hard at it: Groundstaff clear the Portman Road pitch at half-time during Ipswich's 3-0 win over Leicester
Hello readers,
Try and guess why I am writing this post? Yes, due to the snow I am stuck at home today and have decided to continue posting on my blog, even though I did so yesterday:http://everythingfootballandotherstuff.blogspot.com/2010/12/football-manager-blogging-futre.html
With only two Premier league games on this weekend, It still managed to produce a sixth against seventh clash and one of the saves of the season. With Sunderland not having lost a game at home all season, Bolton came to the Stadium of Light in form having previously beaten Lancashire rivals Blackburn, who's new owners had sacked big Sam, requiring more entertaining football. That they were't able to deliver, with Ryan Nelsen capitalising on a mistake by the West Ham keeper Ruud Boffin, making his debut in the Premier league for West Ham. They then equalised late in the second half with Scott Parker going on a mazy run and the ball eventually falling to substitute Junior Stanislas to smash home, Which meant Avram Grant would need a win from one of his next two matches to keep his job. In the lunchtime kick-off, Danny Welbeck, on loan from Manchester United, headed in from Darren Bent's shot, and has now scored five goals in his last six games.
It wasn't all Sunderland though, with Craig Gordon having to pull of on of the saves of the season to stop a Zat Knight shot from two yards out. In the Championship, Ipswich managed to beat the weather and Leicester 3-0 to stop a run of six consecutive defeats. In Europe, Lazio closed the gap on Leader A.C Milan, Who lost at home to Roma with the goal from Boriello, who is on Loan from Milan. Lazio then beat  Udinese 3-2 with help from a last minute own goal by Zapata, whilst Chievo scored a 90th minute goal to draw with Juventus. In Spain Barcelona left for their Christmas Break in high spirits by beating rivals Espanyol 5-1 with braces from Pedro and Villa, and a goal from xavi, who has been nominated along with Iniesta and Messi for the FIFA ballon d'or. With only one more possible Premier league fixture with Man.City playing Everton, there was controversy over why the Chelsea-Man.U game was cancelled twenty-seven hours before kick-off, And Chelsea also having under-soil heating. This will cause a congested fixture list for the two teams, especially Man.U who's previous game was cancelled. Depending on how far the teams go in the Champions league and F.A Cup, Their fixture list will become very congested, which has currently been a problem for Chelsea with their squad-depth. There is an article of this on the Daily Mail website, here is the link-http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1339878/Why-Chelsea-v-Manchester-United-called--Ipswich-managed-beat-freezing-conditions.html. Thanks for reading, PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE vote on my poll regards to yesterday's post. That's all for now readers!
